Identity crisis

Yesterday I decided to change my domain name. Actually, I've been thinking about doing it for a while now but finally committed to doing it yesterday. People had a hard time remembering what my website address is --artnotphotos.com? artnotpictures.com? ARGH!!!!

My new URL will be www.juliemitchellphotography.com. The obvious choice, huh? :)

I sent a request to my web host on Friday afternoon. Not sure when my new URL will become active but just wanted to give you a heads up that I'm in process of changing my name. So if www.artnotpictures.com doesn't work anymore, type in www.juliemitchellphotography.com instead. I'll send out an email to everyone once it's officially up.

Show me some love!

Hey everyone!

It's time for me to take my photography business a step beyond "word-of-mouth" marketing. I've registered at a few different San Diego-based referral websites to generate more business. I'm asking friends and clients to visit any or all of the following links to put out a good word about my photography. The more favorable ratings my listings get, the higher visibility I'll receive. To provide your review, simply click on the links below to be directed to my listings.
Thank you so much for your support!

Happy 17th Birthday Rachel!

My niece, Rachel came to visit from San Jose a couple of weeks ago. It happened to be her birthday, so I treated her to a little photo shoot as a birthday present. Boys, eat your heart out!

After our shoot we went to Extraordinary Desserts for the most AMAZING caramel cheesecake rolled in Macademia nuts. I LOVE this place and highly recommend it. Not cheap but well worth every penny!!!

Night Drama

Last night, Keary and I decided to step up our game and take on a little photography challenge...night photography. Check it out! This is what you get with a few pocket wizards, couple of speedlights, tripods, car headlights, and pure darkness. Very cool and ultra dramatic. I LOVE how these turned out. Not bad for our first time. :)

Keary, we rocked it!! Can't wait to do it again!

The Velez Family

My dear friends from China, Lynn and Gus came to visit San Diego last month. While they were here, I had the great honor of taking pictures of their beautiful family. They told me that they didn't have ANY family photos of the five of them together. I was shocked but totally understood the challenge of getting three little ones to cooperate and look at the camera all at once. I used a few of my tricks and think I got some decent ones. :)

Below, I had a little fun with textures. What do you think? Like/don't like?
